Revelations

You may or may not know that I grew up in a very religious household, my immediate family were/are Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW’s) . We studied the bible daily, for hours at a time. Our lives were guided and ruled by every word in the bible. My journey with religion has been a tumultuous one to say the least. I have had so much anger, rage actually, for it. Religion was a sign of evil to me. My long journey with spirituality has lead me to an understanding that religion and all forms of understanding of spirituality are striving for the same thing. Striving for an understanding of who we are and what our purpose is as humans. That hunger for understanding has been misused and misinterpreted in many ways throughout human history.

In the wake of what has transpired in 2020 I can not help but be brought back to the Bibles prophetic book of Revelation. As a child we studied this book over and over again to try and understand when God was coming to judge us all and destroy the world and any human who did not choose to follow and love him unconditionally. Armageddon. It would be a complete destruction of the world, every physical brick, and only those who truly loved and followed God would survive and be let into a paradise. Paradise was described as an earthy version of heaven. Our loved ones would be resurrected and we would have eternal youth. I lived in fear of Armageddon as a child. I feared I did not love God enough to be saved, I feared my loved ones didn’t love God enough to be saved. JW’s have studied the book of Revelation and deciphered that the super powers of the world, one in particular, would fall and another would rise indicating armageddon was about to occur. It was speculated that the rising super power was China and the falling super power was the United States, something that 25 years ago seemed unfathomable.

Fast forward to today. I have let my hate for religion and for “God” go. I have come to be grateful for my upbringing. It has taught me what faith looks like. I understand the beliefs that have shaped peoples thinking and influenced the way they act. It has given me understanding and compassion for my fellow man. Today I also understand that “God” is not a higher being that judges us and decides if we are worthy to live and die. God is not separate from us. I understand that all of us are a part of “God”. God is source, our higher self, love, and we are all parts of this source in a human body. “God” is alive within you and within me.

God has not judged the world of whether we are worthy or not as individuals. Man (the ego) has. The ego masks our source, our access to God, our higher self, love. Our spiritual work is to clear that ego so we can access source, God, our higher self, love. A clearing is necessary so we can live a life, directed by source, God, our higher self, love. Today I have a new understanding of the prophetic book of Revelation. Yes there is a complete destruction of the world, the systems and the collective way the world does things. It almost feels like “the hand of God” has swiftly shut it all down. It is not happening by “God” the separate entity who judges us but by humans who are God, source, a higher self, love. It will be rebuilt by this God, a paradise created by human led by their higher self, source, God, love. Yes we are living in these prophetic times. But there is no fear here for me anymore. I know I love myself and have unconditionally accepted, source, God, my higher self, love. I am firmly planted on the ground while the necessary destruction takes place around me, around you, by me, by you. We are, I am, in control of the rebuilding, the paradise that emerges. Brick by brick understanding and turning over a new, creating, tolerating no more, demanding change, being the change. We choose today to not take the past forward with us. We choose today to make choices and decisions without influence of the past, The past, the old ways and patterns have been destroyed, called out for all to see, the secrets of humanity not to be swept under the carpet anymore. We choose higher in this moment and in every moment that comes. We are guided by source, God, our higher self, love in this moment.

The feelings you get when you see injustices and inequality of all humans, that is source, God, your higher self, love, shining through. The systems and the hate we see in the world that facilitate and support the injustices and inequalities that is ego. Any contract built by ego is painful to undo, it is a lie, a family secret that needs to be undone. The undoing allows more truth more source, more God, more higher self, more love to shine through. Keep tearing down and keep building back up in light and truth. Choose higher in every new moment we live and breath this is the spiritual truth, the spiritual work to be done.
